Up at 7.30am and walked down to the Arndale Centre for breakfastas it was not included in our hotel price. Walked down to Market Street Metro stop and caught 9.30am train to Old Trafford station. Checked out of our Carlisle B&B at 9.45am and began our drive to Manchester. We had planned to stop off at Brougham Castle near Penrith and Sizergh Castle near Kendal on the way but there were no signs for turn offs from the M6 so we had to give them a miss. We arrived at our hotel, Dolby Hotel, at 12 noon but were told our room was not available until 2.30pm.
