The turnoff into the Mornington Wilderness Camp, a wildlife sanctuary, was at the 402km mark and then another 83km to the camp. There was a good setup at the camp, including hot showers. After getting petrol from the Mt Barnett Roadhouse, we headed 14kms down the Gibb to Galvan's Gorge. This was a lovely gorge and easy 1km walk off the road. There were a few water monitors around this waterhole. The were not scared of the people, just sat relaxing on their rocks. We moved on from the lookout early as this was going to be a bit of driving to get to the next destination. We stopped for morning tea at the Kalumburu Road junction (243km mark). We had agreed not to head up to Mitchell falls given the condition of the road there.
