We moved on from the lookout early as this was going to be a bit of driving to get to the next destination. We stopped for morning tea at the Kalumburu Road junction (243km mark). We had agreed not to head up to Mitchell falls given the condition of the road there.
We stopped at the Mt Barnett Roadhouse, 353km, to pay the camp fees for Manning Gorge and then travelled 7km off the Gibb to the gorge. After setting up camp we went for a walk to the waterfalls. This included swimming across the gorge near the campsite with our shoes in a polystyrene esky floating alongside us. The falls were lovely, especially after the walk there was pretty rocky and uninteresting. After a dip and a climb to the top for David, we headed back to camp for dinner and to sit in front of the fire.
