Today, Liam saw DNC for the first time. We spent the morning around Thamel, eating breakfast, and we went to Mohan's (the tattoo and piercing place recommended by Lily) for Liam to see the guy and talk about a design for his tattoo. We then got a taxi up to DNC (Liam's first Nepali taxi ride), where we were greeted by Baloo the puppy who is still biting and scratching, and I then took Liam on a tour round the building.
My mum had bought a load of colouring books, crayons, bubbles, balloons, jigsaws, nail polish, hair clips etc (thank you mum!!) which I then handed out to them all. By handing out, I mean I laid it all out on the table, and the kids showed me something saying "yes miss?" And I them said yes or no, depending on how much they showed me, and what things were meant for all the kids to share. They were all so grateful for everything, and Liam was especially helpful in blowing up the balloons and making shapes out of them.
We then played and chatted with the kids, and we all eventually got downstairs playing football, cricket, or taking photos (they LOVE people taking pictures of them, might have mentioned this already...).
At about 5.30ish, 2 taxis arrived to takes 9 people back to Thamel area. 4 in one, and 5 in the other, with one person on someone's lap. There was a big debate on how much the taxi cost, but eventually got down to how much we were expecting.
We got back to the hotel, and had a second try at date night at Fire and Ice, but it was shut again, so instead we went to the place where we had breakfast, and turns out they not only do good banana pancakes, but they also do a very good "peanut chicken" - chicken in a peanut sauce with rice. Very tasty!!
We then went to Isis, another place recommended by Lily (the expert of all things Thamel), which turned out to be one of my favourite bars!! I had a baileys (Kristina my dear, I'm turning out to be a baileys girl like you!!) and Liam had a beer, and we had an orange flavour Shisha, which was very nice :)
We then went back to the hotel and packed up our suitcases - Pokhara tomorrow!! After an 8 hour coach journey on Nepali roads that is...
