So today we started dancing!! The morning was just a usual morning, then the girls (especially the ones dancing) took HOURS to get ready!! I remembered at the last minute that I had bought a beautiful white skirt with a peacock pattern and sequins on, so I put that on. But thankfully I realised it was see through!! Need to take that one to a tailors!! So I put some leggings in underneath, and was all fine.
The dancing girls looked beautiful!! They had matching pink skirts, tops and shawls (all pink ha) and they had their hair done in the same way. Their makeup in my opinion was completely over the top, but they still looked lovely :) we all squished into the microbus (a small minibus), with everyone sitting in everyone's laps, and we headed into Kathmandu. We stopped off at about 5 or 6 different houses, one being Lacchi's house. The kids loved being on the bus, dancing, and eating the foods and sweets people gave them!! There were 3 dances in all - the 4 pink girls dancing, one of the pink girls with one if the boys, and a "group dance" where everyone gathered in the middle and danced their hearts out!! I managed to get dragged in on several occasions, and proved to them that I couldn't dance!!
At one of the houses, there was an elderly Spanish woman who spoke little English, and no nepali at all. So I had a nice chat with her with my poor Spanish - haven't spoken it in months!! Proves I need another visit to Spain ;)
On our way to Lacchi's house I suddenly felt horribly ill... Stomach was turning, felt all the blood rush from my face, and felt very faint, going hot and cold. I thought I was going to throw up, but thankfully didn't!! No idea what it was from, but after a toilet stop I felt better, but not completely.
On leaving Lacchi's house, we were all given tikkas like the one in the picture, and had marigold petals sprinkled on our heads. Was lovely!!
On our way back to DNC it was about 10pm, and the kids (and me!!) were shattered!! I looked around and saw that at least 6 of them had fallen asleep!! We couldn't wake 2 of them up by the time we got back to the centre!!
Very late now, so bed time for me!!
