Today was so hot!! I don't know the exact temperature, but it was WAYYY too hot to be in direct sun!! I didn't do much today, apart from read the entire book of Life of Pi (yes the whole book!!) and occasionally throw the ball for some of the boys who were off school, and stop then from fighting and hitting eachother. One of them has a cast on his legs but still hops around the place, kicking the ball with his casted leg, chasing others around, and others squishing him on the bed or floor (he's one of the smallest). It's quite horrible watching actually!! And VERY hard to break them up!! So that was my day, moving around from place to place around DNC, mainly staying in the shade, and cups of tea occasionally being brought to me (thank you Shanti didi!!).
When the rest of the kids got back from school, I had finished my book so went upstairs and helped them with bits of homework and that... Then Sabina asked me to take her to the physio - the guy comes every day I think, usually in the afternoon, to give physio to those who need it. Sabina, having paralysed legs and an extended chest, needs physio as much as possible, to help straighten her legs and help with good posture in her wheelchair (which she only does with the physio I noticed, cheeky girl!!). I then took her back upstairs and helped her make a bracelet which she got in her bag yesterday from the American group.
I met another kid who arrived today (and already forgotten her name, oops!!) who is very sweet!! She doesn't speak much English but is loud!! All the other girls love her :)
Another person that arrived today was Mark - a new volunteer who's staying here for a week (another English person yay), and kind of replacing Brian who left today (forgot to say at the start!!). Brian is staying with his friend about 45 minutes away, but will be coming back to visit here a few times. All the kids keep asking me where "grandfather Brian sir" has gone. Very sweet!!
I was going to make hot chocolate for the first time up here in the volunteers quarters, but after getting the cups out and filling the kettle, I realised that the gas pipe wasn't actually attached to a gas tank!! There goes my beautiful idea of a cosy evening... But instead, I'm writing this and then going to bed (at 8pm). I'm tired, don't judge!!
Ps, the picture/quote reminded me of Life of Pi!!
