Election Day!! So everywhere was closed, apart from a few shops and cafés that decided to stay open. We were going to go to Durbar Square, but decided against it and had a lazy day instead.
We went to Northfied Cafe for lunch, one of the few places open so it was very busy!! I had a soup/chilli beef thing which was nice, but very filling and also very pero (spicy), and Liam had a bacon cheeseburger. We went for a big wander, going slightly out of Thamel, but somehow ending up back on a street going to Thamel. It's wierd how all the streets connect... I noticed that there were a lot of police and army men around, all carrying guns and wearing bullet proof vests. Made me a bit twitchy and nervous!! Also reminded me a lot of growing up in the midst of a civil war, a little scary!!
After we got back to the hotel, we lazed around for a bit, got showers, then I decided it was date night (hence the dressed up picture) - the night where I took Liam out for a nice meal. But that plan failed, as the place I had planned was closed... Date night tomorrow night!!
We wandered around and eventually chose New Orleans cafe for a steak and some drinks, and played cards and chatted. We then went back to the hotel as there weren't many bars open at all. Early bedtime, DNC tomorrow!!
