Saturday - a day off from school!! (For the kids, not me). Breakfast was a little bit later, which I forgot so got up at the same time where I could've slept more... I was starving by the time we finally got to breakfast!! But was very very happy when we finally got it, at about 9. MEAT DAY!! Lots of yummy masu (meat).
After breakfast, lots of the kid decided they wanted to go into Thali (the little village/town/district place just up the hill. The other day it took 10 mins maximum to walk up, but this time with the kids it took at least half an hour. One in a wheelchair, one with a broken leg hobbling and holding my hand, one with a frame, and one who finds it difficult to walk. Four or five others who were fine walking, and me and mark. We were scattered along the side of the road going up the hill. Mark and Bikash (one of the older boys) kept running back down the hill to carry some of the ones who were finding it tricky to walk, and who were small enough to be carried. Even at 10am it was boiling, and we could all feel sweat driving and the sun burning our skin (thankfully it didn't, even with lack of suncream!!). We finally got to the centre (I think) of Thali, and all the girls flocked to the stall where the jewellery and hair clips were. There were 3 or so stalls like these, and they were full of little Nepali plastic hair clips, earrings, necklaces, chapels (flipflops) and other such things. They bought me some earrings which are in fact very nice!! Very sweet of them!! I found some chapels in size 39, only one stall had them... Mark then bought the kids some Pepsi and some chocopies so we sat in the shade enjoying if, them headed back down. We were supposed to be back down by 11, but that was impossible... We finally managed to get down at 12, after a very kind lift from the school bus!! Everyone then relaxed for a few hours. Lunch, wierdly, was biscuits and tea. Everyone had a pack of biscuits each, and hot milk (I had milky tea instead). Then is was relax and play time again. Everyone seemed to be watching something - there were 2 laptops with people crowded round, and the tv was on, showing some wierd soap about this taxi driver who kept running into trouble but he was an amazing fighter. When I say amazing, he acted out terribly all these fight scenes.
It was relax and chill for the rest of the afternoon, then we had supper - dal bhat again with a few pieces of left over chicken from this morning - yum!! Then we all went upstairs, talked for a little bit then I escaped to the volunteers bit to get to bed early again!! I'm loving these early night, but really not loving early mornings!! 7am is early enough for me!!
