So I finally found out why Parmisha isn't going to school... Apparently there's no bus for her to take at the moment, and she walks slower than everyone (because she has to use a walking frame) so Shanti doesn't let her go to school... I think that's a bit silly, but oh well. After Tihar there will be a bus again, do she said she'll go to school then (I hope!! Poor girl gets so bored staying here...)
Today started off not so great. I was standing up and the grid over the gutter slipped and I fell down. Managed to scrape my leg badly on it, but thankfully I was wearing trousers!! There's was some blood and I had to clean it anyways, so I went upstairs as quickly as I could (it felt like someone had chopped my leg in half!!) and used one of my many "wound cleansing wipes" (thank you poundland!!) and since I couldn't find a plaster, I wrapped one of those bandage things round it. I had to stay sitting for a while as it was still very painful (and still is!!) but I ever thusly went down to discover that Sabina had to stay home from her trip to the zoo, as her school called last minute to say that they didn't want the hassle of pushing a wheelchair around. Ridiculous!! She was so upset!! And there were a few others who were here for some reason or another... We all sat round a table and did some colouring. Reminded me of how much I like colouring haha!! I love those books with intricate patterns :) when I next go down into Thamel to stock up on books, toilet paper (never realised how much I use!! Sorry for the detail...), puzzle books, and trying to find colouring books and pencils for the kids, I'm going to get myself a colouring book and some pencils!! I feel like a child and no idea what I can do with them after, but I guess it's the organised person inside me who wants everything in nice neat order. (The child inside me too obviously haha!!)
Today I also started reading "birth order" by Linda Blair, famous clinical psychologist who was also my psychology teacher for 2 terms. It's very interesting, and I've decided that I have more characteristics of a middle child than of a first child, which Josh my brother (a year younger) seems to have more traits of... I wonder why that is... Maybe it's because I'm in a way turning into a middle child, the way josh protects me and looks down on me (physically ha). Theo is a definite last child. Shows all the characteristics of it, and there's no doubt haha!! It's a very interesting read if any of you are intrigued by that sort of thing... Lots of long words, but still interesting!! I'm happy to lend it out when I get back :)
Oh also today, I managed to cut my hand on some glass. Only a tiny bit of glass, but a surprising amount of blood for the size of the cut. Don't worry mum, I cleaned it straight away!! That one hurt too, just like a paper cut does.
I did a lot of reading to some of the kids too. To Ayog (turning out to be my favourite) I read about 6 consecutive books and my voice was starting to get hoarse!! And to Sabina I read 2 books, then half way through an amazing Dr Seuss book, she gave up and wheeled off. Guess I was enjoying the book more than her!! I remember my dad reading me Dr Seuss books when I was little. He's always been good at making books come alive. I especially remember the book called "shhh" about a giant on a castle and you have to sneak through trying not to wake the giant. One of my favourites, even now!! Thanks dad for all the reading and making my imagination come alive!!
At about 5ish, everyone seemed to gather in the physio room, and they all seemed to be irritated with eachother. Kumar started crying a couple of times, the new girl (well, new to me) kept trying to pull Parmisha off her seat, 4 of the boys, including one in a wheelchair and one with a broken leg, playing a very violent game of hockey or "hit the ball around" and managed to hit one person in the head, and dent the ball from hitting it so hard. Bimula and I sat on the side just watching it all go crazy. It was then rice time!! So everyone ran to the "dinning hall" and ate their rice surprisingly slowly... I then helped Bikash with his homework (finding words in a dictionary) and then escaped upstairs again. Wifi is still down, but I have a bit of internet off using my Nepali SIM card in my blackberry to use as a mobile hotspot (don't know if I've explained that already or not...)
The spiders seem to have appeared tonight... In the picture you'll see the life-saving "Gammie spider spray" which Theo got me for my birthday. It's water with drops of peppermint essence in. A true lifesaver!! If Liam was here, I wouldn't need the spray, but as I'm all by myself, I need to take my own action. I've already had to refill the spray pot, as I have a nightly routine before I go to bed of spraying all around my bed, especially around my head area, and the rest of my room. It keeps the spiders away from there so THANK YOU THEO!!!! :)
