After a 6am start (wayyyy too early!!), a 7 hour bus journey, and a taxi ride, we finally arrived at Hotel Nirvana, in Lakeside, POKHARA!!!!! The journey was far too long, but there was so much to look at on the way so the journey passed much quicker. For those of you who know Nepal, we passed Riverside Springs, Nepal's only cable car (which is now covered in NCell everything), and the big power plant place. I was VERY excited when we passed Riverside Springs, as I remember it to be a very nice place. Although one time, it was one of the most terrifying moments of my life. No exaggeration. The time when Theo cracked his head on a marble corner, is 3 kids were locked in our room, and the baby monitor wasn't working. I, being the responsible one, hammered on the wall screaming away trying to get my parents attention, whilst Josh sat with Theo who was crying away, sat in a pool of blood. In the end, dad took Theo to the hospital and returned with Theo having 2 stitches and a shaved part on the side of his head. Absolutely terrifying!!
When we arrived at Hotel Nirvana (one of Ailsa's hotels where she managed to get us a room for $10/£6/1000rps a night), we dumped our stuff in the room, then went for a wander round lakeside. We stopped off at Boomerang - a gorgeous garden restaurant where I have happy memories. Josh, not so much, as i remember him getting stung by a bee there!! But still all good memories!! Like the snake charmers just over the wall where they once let us hold one of the snakes. Very scary, but something I will never forget!!
We had some food at Boomerang, but I started to feel very sick, like being travel sick but 2 hours later... So we wandered back to the hotel where I had a lie-down, then later we went out again, and wandered along the new path that goes all along the side of the lake, cutting through Mike's Restaurant, where my mum used to play her violin every week with her friend Gabrielle with her cello.
We ended up in an Indian vegetarian restaurant/bar, where we sat on the roof with a big pot of black tea, looking over the lake. It was beautiful - all the lights shining off the lake, and we could just see the boats resting on the water. Amazing.
The plan tomorrow is to take lunch and drinks out on the lake on a "piddle" boat (a paddle boat which they spelt wrong on the sign all those years ago!!).
