Happiness Is The Road
Got a phone call this morning from DHL to say my parcel was at Perth CDC but they didn't know where it was. They said they'd call me back, they didn't so I checked online and found out where it was. The Central Delivery Centre (CDC) was on Stirling Street, just a 10 minute walk away, so I set off not feeling hopeful to b honest, to check if they were indeed there. Called in at Travellers Autobarn on the way to see if my camper would be ready to collect on Thursday and yippeee they said it would be. Got to the CDC and pressed the button by the collection hatch. I told the woman my name and showed her id and off she went. It didn't sound hopeful at first as she was gone a while and I heard a lot of rummaging and perplexed noises coming from inside. Eventually she did emerge with a parcel and it was mine, hooray . A guy then came up and apologised for mislaying it. He said it was due to the post man looking at the wrong side of the parcel and putting it in the wrong place!!! Parcel in hand just hoped now that the glasses were right and they were, phew! Happy happy happy now with my sunnies there was only one thing to do and that was head to the beach! Got the 400 bus from the bus station to Scarborough beach, one of the best suburban beaches in Perth. This is a Scarborough beach double now as it was only about 7 weeks ago that I was on the other Scarborough beach in Yorkshire dreaming of being on this one, and here I was. The sand here is beautiful and white and goes on for miles, the sea is a proper blue and the surf is massive. It's great fun being in sea amongst all this amazing crashing surf. Spent a few hours here until the Fremantle Doctor arrived and it got far too windy to stay. For those of youy who don't know the Fremantle Doctor or Freo Doctor is the name given to a wind that blows in virtually every afternoon in Perth around 2 or 3pm from the direction of Fremantle. Got the bus back to the city and went back to my apartment for a while and then headed up to Kings Park about an hour before dusk. I wanted to see the sun go down above Perth and the city lights come on in all the buildings below. From what I remembered it was an awesome sight and Perth didn't disappoint tonight. I sat under a tree and listened to a Aussie music soundtrack to the sun going down. Perth looked magical and I will do this again in just under a years time, but next time with Jay at my side. That done back to the apartment for another roo steak!
