Happiness Is The Road
Hitting the road today, albeit not far but still hitting the road. Got up early to pack away all my stuff that is strewn across the 3 rooms of the apartment (Jay you will be very proud of me as I have been living in a mess, the new way!). Got so much stuff now after my shopping expeditions that had to stuff loads of it in plastic bags. The really lovely couple at Bronelea Holiday Apartments let me store my stuff there until I got the camper.Got to Travellers Autobarn at about 10 and thought I'd be out of there in a couple of hours at the most, it took nearly four and a half!!! They still had to go and get new WA reg plates to put on it, they still had to take the old livery off, they had to mend a couple of things as well and finish kitting her out. I had to go through all the paperwork and sort the insurance and the warranty. I didn't mind the wait though as I was in no hurry and was feeling super chilled, it's not as if I had 120 drops worth of parcels in the back of it!!!!! Don't miss the parcels by the way. This is the first run up to Christmas in eight years where I will be chilled, instead of stressed up to the eyeballs and beyond. Eventually I got out of there ( Just got to go back in a couple of days to get the back door lock replaced) and hit the road to Fremantle. It took about 45 minutes and I left the city along the Kwinana Freeway. She's great to drive but annoyingly in Toyota's the indicators on the right hand side, not the left as is usual, so I kept putting the windscreen wipers on all the time! I will get used to it and then have the problem in reverse when I get home. Stopped off at Woolworths for some food on the way and got to the camp site at around 4. Staying at the Fremantle Village Caravan Park for about 3 nights before moving on south and around this great country. Got checked in easily and soon found my powered pitch to park up at and hook into. It's really nice here, a short stroll into Freo and not far at all from the beach. I had loads of unpacking and sorting to do and eventually got everything put away and organised. There is just loads of storage space on board which is great. Completely knackered after doing this I needed a beer and luckily there was a bottle shop over the road, so I flip flopped over and got a 6 pack of Emu Bitter. I couldn't get my beer in the supermarket earlier as in Australia you cannot buy alcohol with your regular shopping, you have to go into a separate shop, but they will let you drive into an abundance of these shops. There are drive thru Bottle Shops everywhere. Beers got I just came back, made some scrambled egg on toast and then had to turn the dining area into a bed before crashing. First night of many in this little wonderful and completely ace camper. Nite nite everyone.
