Happiness Is The Road
We woke up having spent our seventh quiet and peaceful night in the wonderful surrounds of Aroundtu-It. We had decided to move on to somewhere else today as there is still lots to see on the way back round to Perth. This was done very reluctantly though. After brekky we went round and said goodbye to all the gorgeous animals with Sam the dog in tow. The animals seemed to know that we were going having sensed our sadness. Even the alpacas, including little Bomber whose big day out we had ruined, seemed distraught about our impending departure. After waving goodbye to the animals we went up to the house and saw Helen. We told her that we were leaving today and that we'd had a wonderful stay here. We also told her that Aroundtu-It was by far the best camp site that we had stayed on in 11 months of travelling. We had a really nice long chat with her and we came away with a big handful of duck eggs. We felt sad as we left this little piece of paradise in Northcliffe. We left Helen and Dave glowing reviews on their own web site and Trip Advisor. Five stars, they thoroughly deserve it. We had decided to go and stay in Nannup tonight, a lovely and very pretty little town that I had passed through last year. On the way there we saw a sign for the Diamond Tree. This is the third of the climbing trees in the area and we thought we'd have a look so as to complete our trilogy of tree climbs! This tree is 51 metres high and has a wooden platform at the top. With our incredible joint head for heights we climbed easily to the sixth rung. A brave achievement for us both! Once back safely on solid ground we hit the road again. We stopped off at Manjimup for some food shopping and then completed the journey to Nannup. With all the rainfall this area has been getting recently everywhere was lovely and green. When we got to Nannup we checked in at the caravan park which was on the banks of the Blackwood River. The weather was now absolutely beautiful. It was warm with blue sky and perfect for a walk. We had a mooch along the river bank taking in the vibrant green vegetation all around us and then walked into the town. It was even prettier than I remembered with flowers, including loads of colourful tulips, all along the main street which was lined with some lovely period buildings. We saw a tree that looked like it had been knitted. The bottom of the tree was covered with the most beautiful knitted covers. It was like a patchwork quilt for the tree. We had a good look round and then wandered back to the camper van. We chilled out for the rest of the day but by bedtime the rain was back with showers tinkering down onto our roof. We'd both had a great day but felt a little out of sorts and a bit sad. Although it was nice enough here in Nannup we were missing all our wonderful friends at Aroundtu-It.
