Happiness Is The Road
We were on the move again today. After brekky we said goodbye to the kangaroos and left the caravan park. We had really enjoyed staying here and were a little bit sad to go. But it was onward to somewhere new continuing our adventures. The weather was warm and dry and we were buzzing with happiness. We went to the IGA supermarket in Denmark to stock up and then we headed west along Highway 1. It was only a short drive, 30 kilometres or so, to Parry Beach. I came to have a look at Parry Beach back in November but didn't stop here the night. I checked in with the volunteer caretaker who lived in a cute little house next to the beach and was amazed when she asked for only $10 for the night for both of us. We then went to find a spot. The camping area was really quiet and was tucked in behind the sand dunes amongst loads of peppermint trees. We found a nice secluded spot near the back of the site with somewhere to have a fire. This was great as we haven't had a fire in ages. There was no power here but the amenities block was lovely and clean and there were solar showers. As the sun had shown itself today we were hopeful to get warm or even hot showers. All this was exceptional value for only $10 and a credit to the caretaker and Denmark Council for providing such a clean and cheap place. The only drawback was that there were loads of big mozzies here and they were out already priming themselves to get us! After having some lunch we went to explore and walked down to the beach. It was a gorgeous place, a lovely little bay with turquoise waters. We scrambled over the rocks for a while and discovered another gorgeous little bay around the corner. Later on we cooked us up a wonderful tasty beef stew and lit a fire just before it went dark. We ate our deliciously tasty stew sat in front of the fire. It was great to feel the warmth from the fire and watch the flames dancing in the darkness. It's so very relaxing to watch a real fire. We talked and laughed and watched the flickering flames for ages and took some great photos of all the orbs that were with us bouncing off the magic. Although we didn't feel scared here we both felt a little uneasy. There was an energy to the place that we could sense in the air. Something was watching us. Jay then heard a woman coughing from the bush immediately in front of us. We put the torch on and scanned around but there was no one there! We heard no footsteps and the nearest other campers were too far away from us for it to be them. Spooky stuff. When our embers were glowing and the flames had died down we put the fire out and went to bed. Nothing else went bump in the night but we were awoken in the early hours by our huge joint collection of mozzie bites itching like crazy. They had got us with a vengeance but luckily nothing else did.
