Happiness Is The Road
We awoke from our final sleep in our gorgeous and cosy camper van feeling a little bit sad as we are both really going to miss our little home. The thought of sleeping in a building tonight is a bit daunting! We then went about our morning camper van activities for the last time in Australia. We walked to the showers, had brekky and then packed everything away. Jay put our little table away for the last time being very careful not to trap a nipple like she had done on a previous occasion! I unplugged and wound away our electric chord for the last time. It was horrible doing everything for the last time. We took loads of photos of ourselves with our little van and then bang on check out time at 10 we left. We drove to the Karrinyup Centre and did some food shopping and then we drove to the freeway and down towards the city with our trusty GPS, Les, speaking his cheerful instructions. We drove into and around Kings Park to admire the view and then onto the Brownelea Holiday Apartments. I thought it fitting that I should complete my stay in Australia at the same place where it began. Les guided us to the Brownelea with superb ease and for the final time uttered in his dulcet Australian tones 'You have reached your destination, windows up, sunnies on and don't let the seagulls steal your chips'! We checked in to our apartment and at first were deliriously happy with all the space that we had. Our delirium didn't last long. We had a lounge, kitchenette, separate bedroom and a bathroom. There was so much space here after living in the confines of a camper van for the best part of a year. We just chilled out for the rest of the day but both began feeling weird and unsettled.as we tried to get used to being in a building. We didn't know what to do in all this space and both felt really spaced out. We were going stir crazy. We didn't know where anything was or where to sit and spent the day aimlessly wandering around the place! I thought it would have been great to have an en-suite bathroom but I actually missed the walk to the amenities block! I think that it will take us a while to adjust. We can't wait to be in New Zealand and in another little camper. We had our tea but the food didn't taste right and when we went to sleep the bed didn't feel right. We felt really teary and emotional as we had to leave our gorgeous little camper outside in the car park all on her own. Neither of us slept well. Tomorrow is going to be difficult.
