We did not leave Derby early enough to reach Broome in time for the first morning of Olympic swimming finals, so we stopped at the Roebuck Plains Roadhouse, about 30km east of Broome, to watch them.
We were pretty disappointed when we set up our camper at the Tarangau Caravan Park in Cable Beach, Broome, to find out the only digital tv they have is ABC. We headed straight for a shopping centre where we purchased a tv and an antenna. Fortunately, when we set up the tv at the caravan park, our cheap antenna did a good enough job to warrant us returning the antenna we had just purchased. Not sure what we are going to do with the tv at the end of the Olympics!
Most mornings we have been going for a walk down to Cable Beach, a couple of times even going for a jog along the beach. That's pretty much the extent of our site seeing. We did go to the "Staircase to the moon" Monday night. We were two of a thousand people there. It was an interesting view.
Our remaining time has been spent in front of the television watching the Olympics. This is both enjoyable and frustrating - good and bad performances and annoying coverage from channel 7.
I have picked up a cold whilst here. It has been pretty windy and given we are sitting outside all day, the dust has got up my nose hence the cold.
We are looking forward to hitting the road again. We will be leaving Broome on Monday.
