Checked out of our Inverness B&B at 9am heading for Glasgow via A82. The A82 was closed between Inverness and Leachkin due to flood damage so after missing a detour sign we finally got on our way.
We stopped at Urquart Castle near Drumnadrochit on Loch Ness. Magnificent views and location meant lots of photos and video. Finished with a coffee and cake before diving on to Fort William for lunch. Ate at Nevis Sports Cafe which was a little bit expensive, but when you have to eat you have to eat.
Continued on to Glen Coe and a look at the Glen Coe Visitor Centre. To be honest it was a disappointment. More of a conservation and environment display than a reminder of the massacre that took place here. Very scenic location though which made up for it.
Drove on through scenic lake country towards Glasgow, crossing a toll bridge before hitting the traffic of the city of Glasgow. Crawled slowly to our hotel, Town House Hotel, arriving at 5pm. We checked in then headed off down Sauchiehall Street in search of dinner.
Ate at Budda, a trendy type cafe/restaurant. Food was good and prices very reasonable. We then walked back to the hotel via Starbucks for a coffee.
Back at he hotel we had a long chat with the man at reception which was a good opportunity to get some practice understanding the strong Glaswegian accent!
