Day of traveling. We got all our stuff together then made the fun journey down the stairs and then down the road to the bus stop. The bus was there when we got there so we didn't have to wait around.
When we got the Heathrow Stacy snagged a couple of trolleys for us - which made our lives much easier. The airport was pretty packed. There were people everywhere sleeping on mats and suitcases and tucked away in every little corner. There were staff at all entrances and lifts asking if you were flying today and checking that your flight was accurate and still on schedule. They don't want anyone in the airport that isn't flying out soon.
Our room was ready when we go to the hotel. This hotel was totally worth it, for convenience alone. The walkway to it is all flat and you can bring the trolleys throughout it. We also had enough space in our room to fit the trolleys in there, so we didn't have to worry about scouting any out in the morning.
After getting settled we went to the terminal so I could check online and pay for my bag. My boarding pass is now on my iphone. It's just a barcode that they can scan. It certainly makes things go by a little quicker, it's one less thing to carry and it's good for the environment.
Then we took the Picadilly line into London. First we went to Oxford Street to do some shoe shopping. It was weird to be there but not be living there. Then we took a bus to Hyde Park Corner to go to Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park.
Winter Wonderland was awesome. It was a large carnival/Christmas market. Luckily neither of us had any more space in our luggage, or else we would have bought a lot. Many of the carnival rides were Christmas themed, then others just had garland and lights added to them. We walked around, got some food then took the tube back to Heathrow.
Of course I didn't go to bed early enough, and also had trouble falling asleep.
