First time out in the rain (although it was very light when I was out in it). Went for a lovely run in Regents Park again this morning. I found another new area, which is bound to happen because it's massive and I've only gone through about half of it. I haven't even found the zoo yet. I ran through Queen Mary's gardens. It is beautiful. There is a waterfall, streams, black and white swans, rose gardens, tropical trees and cacti. It was quite splendid. I think I'm going to spend some more time in there. It's just so beautiful.
After my run I had some lunch then Dawn, Ellie and I all walked to class together. My class today was Contemporary Art in Britain. Contemporary art in this case means brand new art. We go to exhibits right when the open and derive our own meanings before anyone has reviewed or critiqued them. It'll be nice to be in the know about the cutting edge of the art scene. It sounds pretty exciting. Like my architecture class, we have frequent field trips. Every other week we are out of the classroom on field trips. My professor is a little difficult to understand at times. Her accent is fine but she uses words in different ways than we do, or completely different words. For example: they call the time from 2000-2010 the naughties. She had no clue why, but that seems to be a British invention. But the class seems interesting and not too much work.
After class we went to a larger Sainsbury's near our classes. While it was bigger than the one near us, it was rather confusing and they still didn't have basic items like vanilla or cocoa. It was very strange. We went to the small one once we got back to our flats and found what we needed.
It was super crowded everywhere. Part of that was because we got out of class so we were dealing with all of the work force. Especially since more of them are cycling, walking or taking the bus. They all just seem so lost without the underground. It's quite overwhelming.
We made mashed potatoes, pork/beef and chorizo for dinner. It was all very delicious. Afterwards I made shortbread cookies with cinnamon and strawberries and Ellie made some banana bread. Both were quite delicious. It did take a while to figure out how to work the oven though. There are degrees (in Celsius) but also another scale with symbols. Both have to be on and the light stays on the whole time. It is rather strange.
Tomorrow I have my internship interview, although it's more like a meet and greet rather than am actual interview. I'm still not going to start for a couple weeks but it will be exciting to meet my supervisor and get to see the place.
Well off to bed for me. Don't want to show up to my interview looking tired.
