Not a very exciting day today.
I stayed in bed for the majority of the day reading and watching tv. I never even went outside. I don't feel any better but I don't feel any worse. We'll see how I feel tomorrow.
I did take a shower and then clean the kitchen. I made chorizo empanadillas for everyone for an end of the class/workday snack (I felt like a housewife). I did obsessively wash my hands and cooking surfaces so I wouldn't get my flatmates sick. I had to improvise some cooking tools. Having no rolling pin or brush I used an empty sauce jar to roll out the dough and a paper towel to apply the egg wash. My flatmates loved them. So far they like everything I've cooked (Dawn was even impressed with my mac and cheese yesterday - which was from the box).
I had a little mishap with the microwave. It is old school so there is just a dial for the time and another to adjust the cooking level. Apparently putting a cookie in on med high for 20 seconds causes the chocolate to burn and cause immense amounts of smoke. Having no idea what the fire alarm system is in this building I freaked out a little. I turned the hood over the stove on high, put an oscillating fan on the counter, opened the one window in the entire flat that can open (and that's only a couple inches) and threw the still smoking cookie outside. Stupid old appliances. Luckily no alarms went off and the smoke dissipated. The microwave still smells like smoke after multiple cleanings but it does not cause food to taste smokey after putting it in there so that's good.
The solution to my cookie problem: dip it in hot chocolate. It's perfect.
Other than that exciting event my day was pretty boring. Tomorrow regardless of how I feel I am going to go for a long walk then meet Meaghan at Harrod's for afternoon tea. I am very excited to see her!!!
Time for some more rest (like I didn't get enough today). Night night.

Meaghan I somehow can only imagine this poor old british man wearing a beret and cursing when he got hit by a smoking cookie as it fell from your window :)
Grandma I gave Kevin your blog address so was really glad to see he sent you a note. I do feel sorry for the little old man that got hit by the smoking cookie too. What a waste of your mother's fantastic chocolate chip cookie. Love from R.I.
