Weird day today.
I woke up just as sick as I went to sleep. I got up and did some reading for today's class. Then I left to make my way to the Serpentine Gallery in Hyde Park (where class was today). I got there quicker than I expected and I also forgot that our teacher had pushed class a little later in case people got lost. So I wandered around the area a little bit then went into the gallery to look around a little bit. Turns out it's not very large and I was able to go through the whole exhibit and still have time left before the rest of the class and our professor showed up.
Once everyone got there our professor gave us an introduction to the exhibit then we all went through it and had a short discussion afterwards.
The exhibit was by the photographer Wolfgang Tillmans. The exhibit didn't really have a theme. There were photographs of varying sizes, colours, subjects, placements etc. Some were framed and others were taped to the wall. Some were several feet tall while others were 3x5. Tillmans curated this exhibit himself which explained the unusual presentation. I enjoyed the large photos next to the small ones. You had to stand back to view the large ones properly then step closer to view the tiny ones next to it. It really made you become more active in the viewing. Tillmans also had quite a few photographs which were created, seemingly, by playing with the developing chemicals in the dark room. These were my favourite pieces of the whole exhibit. There is just so much chance and experimentation involved in them. It's so cool.
We were down just a little before 4 (our class is scheduled until 5) for which I was very grateful. By this point of the day I was exhausted and had a headache. I made my way back to the flat and was greeted by a package. It could not have come at a better time. I desperately needed some comfort food. So I had a nice meal of mac and cheese with hot chocolate and tea and finished off with some cookies. It really hit the spot.
Then I laid around all evening drinking lots of fluids. I'm going to go get some medicine tomorrow if I haven't improved. Luckily I don't have any obligations tomorrow so I am going to rest up.
Well I'm turning in early tonight. Nighty night.
