Checked out of our Cardiff B&B at 9am and drove off in search of Caerphilly Castle. Couldn't find a turn off from the motorway so continued on to Caerleon Roman Amphitheatre. Toured the museum display and the excavated ruins of the bath house before driving around to the amphitheatre. Interesting to see such a sight in the middle of a town.
Drove on over the Severn Bridge back into England and on to Bath. Got lost but eventually found our B&B, Astor House. Checked in and caught the bus into the city centre. Walked up towards Tourist Information stopping at for lunch. Picked up a map and then went to Bath Cathedral for a look. The first cathedral we had been to that allowed photography inside and also contained the grave of Captain Arthur Phillip.
Walked across the square to the Roman Baths and Pumphouse. Great exhibition on roman baths, the springs and buildings. Also an opportunity to taste the spring water in the Pumphouse for 50p, wasn't prepared for it to still be 40 degrees!
Walked back to bus stop via internet cafe to check some emails and caught bus back to B&B.
Went to dinner at 5.30pm at Bear Hotel a short walk from our B&B. They had 33% off food ordered before 6pm so we ate well and didn't pay a fortune! Back to B&B for some rest and to package up some things to post back to Australia the next morning.
