Crew Frivolous
We had prebooked at taxi to take us to the ferry this morning and headed off at 8:30am. The roads weren't very busy and we arrived in time to catch the 8.40am ferry. We sat out the back on the side and had great views on the short 8km trip to Magnetic Island.
We arrived at Nelly Bay and jumped straight onto the waiting bus and bought day passes for $7.20 each and then rode down to Picnic Bay. We had a look around on the jetty and then had a morning cuppa at the nearby pub. Joe and Col went snorkelling for a bit and Wendy had a quick swim while I lazed in the sun reading.
The next bus took us to Horseshoe Bay which was a much busier place. We had our lunch under the palm trees overlooking the beautiful bay then walked down the far eastern end of the beach to go snorkelling again. Joe, Col and I all headed out into the lovely warm water. I only managed to stay out for about 5 minutes as the visibility was really poor and the water very shallow. The guys went out a bit deeper to explore further. Wendy had another swim and we lazed on the lovely beach for a while.
We went back to the pub and had a couple of coldies while waiting for the next bus. We got dropped of at Arcadia and went over to Alma Beach where Joe and Col went in snorkelling again. It was a beautiful sheltered bay and the guys stayed out for ages. We then went over to the Arcadia Hotel Resort and waited for the next bus to take us back to Nelly Bay and the ferry.
The ferry had just left when we got back and there was an hour to wait so we went and had a look at Pepper's Resort (another bar). The ferry left at 6:40pm and we headed back to Townsville after a beautiful day.
Col set up his laptop and we sat around it and watched the footy while we had dinner. A great end to another amazing day.
