Crew Frivolous
After an early start ,we left behind the beautiful waterholes & falls of Canal Creek. Our next destination, Loyalty Beach, it's near Seisia on the coast.
We travelled the Developmental Road, it's wide, red and corrugated rattling our fillings. It also has a lot more traffic, one thing we have all noticed on the telly track and the Developmental road was no wild life other than birds.
We reached the Jardine river crossing about 10.00 and after filling up with diesel at $2.26 cents a litre and yes paying the ferry man!! ($145 return including trailers) We were on our way again, the ferry holds 6 cars or in our case 2 with trailers and 2 without.
There are 2 towns between the crossing and Loyalty Beach, the first town was Injinoo a little town with no shops, every one has to travel to Bamaga, the shopping hub, it consists of a very small Ibis Supermarket, a Tavern/ bottleO and 2 Petrol stations and a couple of Garages. It also has a school, Doctors & a swimming pool. So some grocery shopping and supplies were purchased at very high prices . Coming in to Bamaga we were amazed at the brumbies every where .
Loyalty Beach is a Caravan park right on the water. Martin & Jenny set up their camp close to the waters edge but I was very glad their bed is on the roof !! The rest of us decided to live it up with the luxury of POWER so that put us about 50 meters from the water .
Thursday Island was the next adventure planned on our list so after booking for the next day, we all took a drive down to the wharf to see where we would leave from. The water is beautiful and the wharf was quite busy.
