Crew Frivolous
Up early to complete the Telegraph track which we decided to do without our campers as there was to be quite a lot of water ahead of us and we had already drowned one fridge.
Heading off, the first crossing we came to was Canal Creek just above our camp site. It was one of our easier crossings only a small amount of water, it was quite a rocky ford with some pot holes.
The terrain changed many times before we reached Sam's creek (we walked all creeks before entering or were able to get very good advice from people camped beside them) it's another rocky crossing followed quickly by Mistake Creek. Cannibal Creek had a very sandy narrow entrance. The water was quite deep on entrance, lots of great photos taken at each crossing.
Then the nightmare was in front of us !!
Most of us had thought about this crossing in our beds last night it was called Cypress creek and as the name sounds what we had to cross was basically a bridge consisting of a couple of sticks high above the water, with careful guiding we managed to get all 4 cars across safely.
The map didn't name the next two crossings they just called them Fords, they also neglected to tell us how deep the water might be. Marcus managed to wade through water up to his waist only to find out to his left the water was knee high !!!
Nolan's Brook was next, and according to the book our last water crossing, the deepest and most difficult. We came across a guy who had been camped beside it for 2 days and was able to give us good directions he had watched lots of cars fall in.
We all made it without dramas, but many cheers and laughter and perhaps a beer followed , we were all so excited to have finished. So proud of the guys. Back in to cars the and continued on to the Jardine River where we had lunch and Mart and Joe tried a bit of fishing. Then back to camp for celebrations.
