Crew Frivolous
13th September
We left Elliott Heads (Bundaberg) at 8.30am and made our way to Hervey Bay. We stopped in at the tourist info centre on the way into town. We drove along the foreshore and checked out the 3 beachfront caravan parks. We chose the one in Scarness and booked in for a couple of nights.
After a bite to eat we went for a drive along the coast. We walked out on the Urangan Pier which is 868 metres long (it was originally 1124 metres when it opened in 1917). There were people fishing the whole length of the pier but right out at the end it was quite crowded.
We drove along to the harbour and stopped in at the Boat Club on the marina where we sat out on the deck and had a couple of cold ones. Both Joe and Col were given club shirts to wear (and keep) as they were not allowed in with singlets on. They happily put them on but said it was discrimination as both Wen and I had singlets on. While we were there we decided to catch the courtesy bus back that night for dinner and a night out.
We saw thousands of quite large bats flying around while we waited for the bus. Ewww.
We had a very nice meal and then were 'entertained' by Captain WOW. Watching all the people on the dance floor kept us amused for a while then we made our way into the sports bar and watched the AFL Semi final before catching the bus back to camp.

Today was set aside for the restocking of supplies before heading to Fraser Island on Monday. After the shopping was done and all packed away we did some catch up on the blog and then spent a lazy afternoon in the sun and down at the beach. We went out for dinner again, this time just over the road to a Thai Restaurant. It was the best tasting Thai food. Just so delicious.
