Crew Frivolous
We got up to yet another beautiful North Queensland winter's day. We decided to have one last swim in the alluring Big Crystal Creek and then packed up camp and headed out to the main road. This time headed for Townsville. We rang ahead and booked into Rowes Bay Caravan Park which we found was very close to everything. We decided to stay for 3 nights so we could have a good look around. It is a lovely neat park.
After setting up camp, our first stop was the Castle Hill Lookout. WOW!!! Amazing 360 degree views of Townsville and surrounds. It was a lovely clear day and we could see as far as our eyes would allow.
Next we drove along 'The Strand' which is along the waterfront. It is lined with palm trees, beautiful beaches, lovely parks and restaurants. We parked the cars and strolled along for a bit and ended up at a bar and grill called The Longboard. We had a very delicious lunch there overlooking the water. While having lunch we decided to head over to Magnetic Island tommorrow so after stocking up on groceries we went looking for a couple of extra sets of flippers and snorkels. We had a quick look around Castletown Shopping World with no success and ended up at BCF at Domain Central. We then checked out the tourist info centre and booked our ferry tickets for the next morning ($32 each return)
