Day 1
Today we left Lawn Hill which was rather sad as it was so peaceful and quiet. The thought of 8000 people at Birdsville was a bit daunting. We travelled a dirt road for about 300 kilometers which was a bit rough on the old cars. We stopped on the road to collect fire wood for Birdsville as apparently you have to take it all in. We arrived at Mt Isa at about 2.30 pm and set up camp at the Mt Isa Caravan Park. Luckily it was Sunday because you don't need to cook on that day as it was a free sausage sizzle at the campground. The grey nomads know where all the free stuff is. It’s a meet and greet the neighbour's night. It was really nice meeting some of our fellow campers and to learn of their lives on the road. It was a terrific night.
Day 2
Today was literally a catch up day. We needed to get organized for our trip to Birdsville as there would be no shopping for 7 days. Washing, shopping for food and beer was all done so we could have a relaxing afternoon having quiet ale or two before going out for tea at the pub across the road.
