Crew Frivolous
Up early this morning to meet the boat to go to Thursday Island. We had a lovely one and a half hour boat ride and arrived there about 9.30. We booked a 2 hour bus ride around the area. Firstly we went to the top of the hill to look at the defence fortifications against the Russians. Colin and I got a bit side tracked and forgot to go back to the bus in time, too busy looking at the views from the top. We then went to the Japanese Pearlers grave site. All very interesting.
Decided to check out the local pubs of Thursday Island. Went to one for a few drinks which was the most northern pub in Australia called the Torres Hotel and then decided to go to another for lunch. Jenny, Jenny and Ang all had chicken schnitzel but it looked like crocodile, enough to make you sick.
We wondered around the shops and all brought a few souvenirs and Marcus acquired the most divine Hawaiian shirt. He looked very handsome. Had to be back at the boat at 2.30 to head back to Seisia. Arrived back at 4.00. It was a very interesting day.
Back to camp for a few more drinks and tea.
