Crew Frivolous
After days of procrastinating and finding every excuse possible we finally made it to 'THE TIP'.
We had unconsciously been delaying this and now after reliving our day it was because even though it was going to be the highlight and the main reason of our trip it also meant that we had now completed it and were on our way home.
We left camp around 9am and followed the 4wd shortcut to the tip. It was a good little track with ever changing vegetation. After arriving at the carpark we headed off. It took us about 20 minutes to walk to the tip. We were all glad that we chose to wear runners as the terrain was quite rocky and steep in some places. It was a wonderful feeling when we got to the last little hill and could see 'the tip' We wandered down and I (Jen DP) can't speak for the others but I was feeling a bit emotional at this point and was glad I was wearing sunnies. We started taking pics of each couple straight away and we asked another tourist to take a couple of 82cape group pics for us. He was more than happy to help and said just call him Keith ay :-) We then all cracked a can and had a celebratory drink. It was awesome!!!
On our way back to the car park the guys could see heaps of fish at the waters edge. That was enough to send them back for their fishing rods. Ang, Wendy and Jen Dyke went back to the carpark and spent some time on the beach and under the palm trees. I stayed to watch the guys fish. There were so many fish in the water and we also got to see a couple of turtles passing by and some dolphins too. Joe caught himself 2 good sized Queen fish. It was quite impressive as when he was reeling in the second one a shark was chasing it and was close enough to take a bite out of the fish.
We headed back to the carpark, had lunch and set off again. We drove over to Somerset and checked out the beautiful beach and campground. We all decided it was time to change co-pilots to change things up a bit. Ang hopped in with Colin, Wendy was with Marty, Jen Dyke travelled with Joe and I was in the Gangsta Truck with Marcus. We drove the 5 beaches loop track and stopped to take photo's at the prettier beaches. A couple were quite long and the tide was way out so Mart, Marcus and Col did a bit of circle work to the delight of their co-pilots.
We headed back to camp, sat around the campfire with fish for tea and relived our wonderful, momentous day again.
