Crew Frivolous
We had a bit of a sleep in today then headed off towards Winton (I didn't think I was going there this year)
The solar panel on the front of Joe's car got blown right off this morning when a huge road train went past. NOT HAPPY!!!! The bang it made scared the absolute **** out of me. The panel is gone and the frame is now on the side of the road.
We continued on to Winton stopping first at the Australian Age of Dinosaurs. Had a quick look and then back in the car into town.
We checked out the Waltzing Matilda Centre and the Jolly Swagman Statue then walked up the road to the North Gregory Hotel where legend says this is the hotel where the first public performance of 'Waltzing Matilda' was held and as we are all patriotic Aussies we had to go in for a cold one! Then we went looking for 'Arno's Wall' an eccentric landmark made from Opalton rock and all sorts of junk.
We had our lunch sitting in the park, then headed off to Hughendale. We stopped there long enough to refuel. We drove along our first lot of dirt roads. So very red and dusty!! Travelled along for a few hours and pulled up to camp on the side of the road just after Lyndhurst.
Marcus wanted to have a campfire (mind you it was still about 20 degrees) so out came the chainsaw and the boys had a fire going in no time. It was lovely sitting around it.
