HAPPY FATHER'S DAY firstly my wonderful dad and to all the other loving dad's out there!!!
Today was Father's Day and I wanted to go for a drive to get phone service so I could call my dad. Joe and Col also wanted to speak to their kids so we headed back towards civilisation. First stop was at a lookout called The Sky Window. We made our phonecalls and sent our messages and with smiles on our faces we walked the short distance to the sky lookout. It was a lovely. You could see right down the Pioneer Valley. Just magic!!
Next we drove down the winding mountain that we had driven last night. It was nice to see where we had been in the dark. We drove out to the Finch Hatton Gorge. We had to walk about 1.4km in to see the Araluen Cascades. It was a fairly easy walk. The water cascade was quite pretty and the swimming hole at the bottom looked so very inviting but none of us had our bathers on so we just sat a while and enjoyed the surrounds.
We went back to the Finch Hatton Criterion Hotel for a delicious lunch and a couple of cold ones. Stopped off at Goodes Lookout in Eungella which was the same view we saw this morning just a bit lower down the mountain. Joe and I stopped at a roadside stand and got a bagful of macadamias which once opened with the aid of a pair of mutligrips and a hammer were quite tasty. Once back at camp we introduced Wendy and Col to '**** & *****' and spent a fun afternoon playing cards. Wendy quite liked this game and jumped through each step easily and ended up winning!!
