Life in Oz!
I had to be at the Uni bus stop by 9:15 because I signed up for a "See the Sights" tour of the area. Walking to the bus stop I met Katarina, a German student. I sat with her on the bus and met some of her friends. Linda and Matilda are from Sweden, Marie and Caroline are from France and Daniella is from Germany. The first city we saw on the tour was Buderim; it is a quaint city and from up on the hill where it is located you can look out and see the Uni and then the ocean. I want to walk there one day to explore it, the view was awesome and the stores look like they would be fun to investigate. We were then off to Alexandra Head where there is a nice beach and surf club, Mooloolaba were there is a fun night club and Maroochydore were the Sunshine Plaza is located. We ended at a beach were we heard a talk about surf safety. We had some time before we had to go in to eat so we went down to the ocean. It was awsesome! This was the first time I had been to the ocean here and it was sweet. The water was really warm and you had to be careful of the waves so they didn't knock you over. I was sad that I couldn't go swimming because of my blisters, they are still pretty gross and I have gotten more on one of my shoulders. We ate at a surf club in Maroochydore. The surf club was nice, one wall was all windows looking out to the ocean and you could hear the waves coming in. We had our choice of a buffet of roast beef, potatoes and vegetables or the fish and chips (french fries) platter. I got the buffet but one of the girls let me try her fish and it was fantastic, definitely should have gotten that instead. Once we were done eating, we were free to explore until 1:30 when the bus was scheduled to depart or you could also go off on your own and find your own way back. The girls and I decided to go shopping instead of take the bus back. I wondered around the Plaza for a while and then took some pictures. It was a beautiful day and it was really nice to be able to sit outside by one of the cafes and relax. I managed to find the right bus and get back to the Uni on my own. At 8pm I had to meet with the girls I met earlier, they invited me with to Bribie Island. We had to decide what time to leave. Since none of us had a car, we needed to take the bus and the train to get there. Caroline did most of the work which was nice but I felt bad too because it was difficult. She knew what she was doing though so I just let her do it. We finally figured out that we were going to take the 7am bus so we had to be at the bus stop a little before 7am. That is early for a Saturday but it was better than the 6 or 6:30 we had been talking about. I had planned to go to bed early but I saw that Martin was home so I stopped by to say hi and ended up staying until 1am because we talked for a while and then watched a movie.
