Life in Oz!
Beach day! We had to take the 9:40 bus to Mooloolaba because the next one was just before noon. The beach was almost empty when we got there and the water was extremely calm, there were barely any waves and they were barely breaking. The temperature was only 22C (about 72F) and the water is only 20C (68F) according to a display board by the lifeguard. Kate and I walked in the water and it was pretty cold, our feet got used to standing in it after a few minutes but I wasn't up for a swim. Lying on the beach relaxing and reading a book was wonderful. The sun kept is warm most of the time except when the wind was a little stronger it got a bit chilly. We took a break and had lunch at Subway about 2 blocks away and then wondered back towards the beach. On the way we saw Mimi, who lives at UniCentral, she was conducting surveys for Maroochy on tourism so we each filled one out for her. We had a little longer to lay on the beach before we caught the 2:45 bus back to uni. Mathilda, Katherine and Bettina happened to be on the same bus so I talked to them on the way back. Mathilda and Bettina tried talking me into going to Friday's with them, I told Mathilda to call me later about it. We are supposed to get a new roommate today, they brought a notice a few days ago telling us to have our common area clean because we were getting a new American student in our apartment. I figured they would be here by the time we got back from the beach but so far there is no one. I wasn't going to go out but I went over to Mathilda's apartment to make dinner and then we were going to watch a few episodes of Sex in the City. Once we got to Bettina's apartment it took a while for them to finish getting ready and the whole time they were begging me to come with. I finally caved in and got ready. I went back to Bettina's but we turned around and came back here to watch Sex and the City because the other two's TVs were already being used. We got to watch an episode and a half before we had to run to the 10:20 bus. We stayed downstairs at Friday's because we didn't want to pay the $7 to get up to the club and we wanted to be able to talk and hang out anyway. There weren't many people there at first but it didn't take long to get pretty full. We had a pretty good time talking and listening to the live music they had on the small stage but Mathilda and I weren't really in a party mood so we got tired pretty early. We stayed until almost 1am when Bettina and some of her mates were ready to go home.
