Life in Oz!
It was Linda's birthday on Friday and when I talked to Isabell on Thursday night after getting back from the Tav she invited me over to Varsity for brunch to celebrate her birthday. I went over to Varsity at 10:30 and the rest of the girls were already there preparing. There was heaps of food there and it all looked delicious. Linda came a few minutes later and she was surprised. We had a huge feast of pancakes, yoghurt and muesli, fruit, breads, meat and vegetables, pretzels, chocolate muffins and of course chocolate birthday cake which was amazing. We all ate and talked for a long time, took some pictures and then cleaned up so we could head to the pool. I decided not to join them by the pool because I wanted to finish updating my journals and clean my room. Not long after I got back our new roommate came! She will be student teaching here and is from New York. We talked for a while, she unpacked some and then I walked with her up to Woolworth's to buy some food. It was interesting to have her point out the differences between here and the States; a few differences I never realized and some I had forgotten about already. She bought just enough stuff that we had to take the cart back, so she was able to experience the greatness of that already. We got back just in time for mass. Joanna and I didn't have to walk because her roommate Andy drove, we saw Brendan heading for church so he hopped in as well. After church, I went to Joanna's room and we talked for a while. We had to decide if we wanted to go to Melbourne or just stay here and do things on the coast. we decided it was getting to close to leave for Melbourne and we kind of wanted to stay around here any way so we could hang out with more people and hopefully not miss saying goodbye to anyone. We planned to meet tomorrow to go to the International Relations office and look at brochures for ideas of things to do and then plan the BBQ. I made it back in time to watch most of Big Brother and make dinner. When my roommate came back, I filled her in on the greatness of the show...just wait till Neighbours is on tomorrow night. Once Big Brother was over, I worked on my journals and went to bed.
