Woke up to patchy showers, which soon passed so after breakfast the kids shot out to play and weren't seen again! Nick spent the morning preparing meals for the freezer and I started a new book and did the laundry. We had every intention of spending the morning doing schoolwork but there were about 20 kids in the playground all playing together and ours were in the thick of it so it seemed unfair to pull them away - perhaps they will have the school holidays off after all! After lunch we went on a lovely long walk for the afternoon. Doris and Jeorg came too and we walked back through the woods to the beach but this time walked along to the entrance of the estuary (they call it a lake here) and around the lake's shores. Annie wanted to take a short cut home and Jeorg was prepared to wade across the lake with Annie on his shoulders but we told her she was big enough to walk, much to her distress! Back at the van it was coffee time and then I went off to chat to the Queenslanders, Sueanne and Phil, for some tips on places to stay up the coast. They were very generous and gave me information on everywhere from here to the Northern Territory so by the time I got back Nick had cooked dinner! We had a bbq with Doris and Jeorg, who had made German beef burgers and pasta salad, while Nick had made sausages and roasted veg. The kids ran off to play again and another camp had music blaring so the playground became a disco. We sat outside and kept an eye on them but by 9pm it was far too cold. Annie was virtually asleep on her feet and although the boys complained about coming in, they were asleep before they hit the pillow! We watched an episode of 'Once' with Katharine and then passed out pretty quickly too.
