Nick woke up early at 7am and there was a lovely red sky shining through the window. He stepped outside for a walk and it instantly began to rain so instead he started to unpack the top of the car. Once shops had begun to open he went off into town to buy shower parts, refill gas bottles and order new tyres for the car, as ours are bald! I was supposed to do schoolwork but couldn't face it today so instead spent most of the morning producing endless plates of food for the permanently hungry. It had rained on and off all morning and the kids were in and out of the van. Nick had to buy a whole new shower set for the bathroom and it took a while to fit it properly but once he was done we hit the road to explore - I was beginning to feel claustrophobic in the van! We drove to Queenscliff and stopped at the lighthouse for a walk along the beach. There were rock pools everywhere and the kids had a great time exploring them all. Afterwards we drove into town and walked up and down the main street, which had a great feel to it - great cafes and awesome boutiques. The kids found a lolly shop and we found a great cappuccino! We checked out some beautiful weatherboard houses and then drove on to Port Lonsdale where we explored another lighthouse, another great beach and more rock pools. It began to rain so we headed back to the car but it was too early to head home so we drove to Drysdale - not as picturesque as Queenscliff! We drove home to Ocean Grove and walked around the main shopping area before buying dinner. While there the boys spotted a shop selling birthday cakes!! Once back at the van I spent the rest of the evening doing some money-earning work while Nick made us all dinner and then cleaned up. We had another evening in front of the box enjoying power and tv reception after free camping. On a walk to the toilet before bed, Matty found a small possum in a tree and everyone went to sleep far too excited.
