Woken up early by the boys who were very excited, as it was their 7th birthday. They woke the girls up and then shot in to the annex to find their presents. They didn't seem to care that they were all wrapped in newspaper or mind our homemade cards!! They loved their scooters from Granny Peg and Granddad Chris and their sleeping bags from Grandma and Poppy Jon. They also got a new outfit, a dvd and a footie and soccer ball - happy chappies!! Nick made everyone pancakes for breakfast and afterwards they shot off to play with the kids from Busso. Around 11 we had birthday cake and then eventually went off in the car to explore Torquay and Jan Juc with a view to a swim at the beach. I had thought of spending the day at the zoo or the aquarium in Melbourne but the boys just wanted to skate and swim! We drove out to Bell's Beach, one of the best surfing beaches in Australia where international surfing comps are held. The surf looked pretty good and there were about 50 surfers in the water with a lot more getting their boards ready in the car park. Instead of swimming at Torquay, we decided to head back to Barwon Heads. We spotted a skate park on the way and spent an hour there using the new scooters and skateboards. At Barwon Heads we stopped at the café on the river again and had a late lunch, then we walked to the mouth of the estuary with Matty and Anna swimming along the way. We climbed the steps up to the top of the bluff and I walked around the top while the others headed back down to the beach. We got back to the caravan park around 530pm and again the kids shot off to play. We had planned on dinner at the pub but after such a late lunch no one was hungry. Once it got dark the kids had a quick shower and then watched a new movie on the laptop in the annex with their friends and a few bags of pop corn - to them a perfect day which is all that matters!
