Today we woke up to sunshine and a beautiful blue sky. It felt fantastic to open up the van and air everything out. The kids went straight out to play so I cleaned the van from top to toe (it doesn't take very long!!) and then made breakfast for everyone. We had planned on some schoolwork this morning but the kids were having such a good time making friends that we left them to it and read the papers. After a second cup of coffee we decided to walk and find the path to the ocean. Doris and Jeorg came along too and although it was a lovely walk we didn't make it to the ocean. We walked back along the lake and watched pelicans fight over a fisherman's scraps. It turned out the fisherman was from WA and so our walk turned into a long chat instead. The kids spent the entire time climbing the rocks looking for crabs with some other children and it was difficult to pull them away. We walked to the shops to buy some bread and then came home for lunch. The afternoon was spent reading while the kids were back in the playground and then Nick and Jeorg went over to the oval with them and played soccer. Around 4pm we went off for another walk and found a track through the bush that eventually led to the beach. Walking along the thin strip of beach is a bit surreal with the wild crashing waves on one side and the calm placid lake on another. We didn't get to walk too much of it as the sun was beginning to set and by the time we got back it was dark. We had dinner, showered the kids and watched a few hours of TV before bed. From our site we can hear the waves which is magic.
