The kids seemed to wake up early this morning with excess energy so we decided to spend the day outside walking as the sun was out. We did a couple of hours schoolwork first to keep the momentum going and it was well worth it. Jonny did really well reading the time correctly and as an incentive Nick promised to buy him an analogue watch. Therefore, after an early lunch we headed into Bairnsdale and picked up a Kmart special for $9!! We then drove into Nicholson, a tiny little town built along the river and walked part of the Rail Trail Walk (in Victoria they have turned old railway tracks into bike and walking tracks - awesome). The kids didn't walk as far as we had hoped and it was too nice a day to go back to the van so we drove into Paynesville instead and found a café on the shores of Lake Victoria and had a drink. We walked along the shore of the lake for a while and watched the car ferry go back and forth to Raymond Island - a residential island as well as a koala sanctuary! Eventually we drove home and there were other kids staying in the caravan park so ours shot off and made friends. They came in for dinner as it got dark, had a shower and watched a movie, eventually getting to bed far too late! I spent the evening doing some work for WoundsWest and by the time I had finished everyone was sound asleep!!
