Sunday 13th. Left at 0700 and wanted to try and get to Honitas a village 32km away which is furthest we have ever walked in a day. Cool start as we left Burgos and we headed to a breakfast stop at Tarjados
When we got there the only place open was heaving and full of loud Germans so feeling grumpy we moved on.
Stopped 3km further in small bar in Rabe de las Calzados where super patron gave us a great breakfast and then when we had finished made us wait while he went to the church and gave us 2 pendants of the patron saint of the village for good luck on the camino. Lovely moment and one life's lessons.
We then entered the Meseta region which is a huge plain 3000ft above sea level with nothing but wheat fields for miles and miles. The sun came out and the place was magic - so quiet and no one except the odd pilgrim .
We arrived fairly knackered in Honitas which is so lovely as its tiny but buzzing village with fellow travellers all staying in one of three places. Going to eat in the hotel and have an early night as we have a 29km walk tomorrow.
Mrs Bean has been at it again after a quiet spell - 1st she got locked in the bedroom in Belorado and the patron had to extract her , then the shower door came off in her hand in Saint Juan. Friday night she put a tube of shaving gel in a glass holding my toothbrush which I duly used to brush my teeth after having had a few beers. Today she has had hat issues again having ditched the baseball cap, the Tilley hat which when the wind caught the strap nearly strangled her, and the freebie padding ton bear hat was doing ever so well until a gust of wind sent it flying 100m into a wheat field... We are hoping the sun burn will be ok by the morning! Tomorrow Mrs Bean has announced she will be trying to wear a bandana - God help us!

mike Lol keep up the funny blogs - they are keeping us well amused. However, in the interest of journalistic balance, I think we should hear some snippets from Sal ! Xx
laurieandsally Mike and Gabrielle thx for your messages and I am afraid my junior reporter does not have any editorial privileges . However she would like Gabrielle to know that she will never ever criticise her hats again and may even seek advice on future purchases!
