Camino Charity Walk
Left at 0800 having raided the buffet breakfast bar for lunchtime provisions in glorious sunshine. Shorts and shirt on for 1st time and it felt great. Lovely scenery as we climbed to 3000ft then walked through small mountain hamlets down to famous old town of Puente del Raina where Charlemagne stayed having defeated the Moors. We have braved another Albergue which has turned out well as we have our own room with fellow pilgrims in basement of smart 3* star hotel. They also had a masseur so we both had a session which I think was good but not sure as I fell asleep on the slab. The pilgrims are allowed to venture up to the ground floor for a 3 course meal including wine for 11€. We shared a table with a French couple who were good company.

Amy It all sounds fantastic- like a grown ups version of my year out! I'm very jealous! You're both doing amazingly well- pleased you've found places with a hair dryer Laurie, I know you like your home comforts! Lots of love to you both, love you lots xxxxxxxx
laurieandsally Amy you are right it is a gap year for grown ups! There are only a few college kids due to time of year but probably more women on their own walking the camino than anyone else. Anyway must dash as late for breakfast ..... 0640!!!
Gabrielle Bliss Hello both. I'm so amazed by your progress and thrilled that you are meeting interesting people en route who I'm sure keeping your spirits up when it becomes hard going. Also very pleased you have had access to a hairdryer! Just to make you feel you are absolutely doing the right thing, the weather her has been absolutely appalling since the day you left amd is due to get really cold over the bank holiday weekend. Thinking about you and keep on keeping on! Much love. Gabrielle. Xx
laurieandsally Great to hear from you as it does lift the spirits especially after yesterday's walk and flea pit hotel. Sorry to hear about the weather, we had a nice but cloudy day for our walk but now a thunder storm has arrived which won't help get the washing dry. Much love Sal x
