Tuesday. Woke at 0500 as the 20 people sleeping on mattresses in the dining room decided to all get up and make one hell of a row. As we were all served lentil soup last night I can imagine the aroma and noise would have been hard to bear for any longer than necessary.
We were the last to leave at 0730 which meant we had a blissful morning walk when we only met 4 other people. For about 2 hours we walked beside the quiet river Ucieza and it was so peaceful just the sound of birds and mating frogs!
After last nights debacle we pushed the boat out and are staying at another converted monastry the Real Monasterio de San Zoilo. It's a bit of luxury before the next 2 nights of Albergues as there are no other options.
Tomorrow we will pass the halfway point which will be something of a landmark all being well. Weather still great but due to turn wet by weekend.

Arkwright Right, you are halfway. Never mind Poles, Swedes, Dutch, Aussie pilgrims etc how are you both feeling? Brilliant to get to this stage, very well done, I'm v impressed. #massive milestone.
laurieandsally Many thx for your msg Arkwright and we are doing well really. The last couple of days have been the hardest of the whole trip to get motivated . But the routes have not been that interesting as we seem to prefer it when we walk through villages etc. Also we have lost contact with lots of the crowd we had been with so less people to chat to.
