Today was one of our best days walking as we left Triacastela after a good breakfast to head for Sarria. The weather was sunny but not hot and we made good progress.
We immediately headed up a track following a stream up through tiny hamlets to the top of a hill with amazing 360 degree views.
We continued walking on a ridge through many small farms which are still very much in existence over here. We have become accustomed to the smell of cow muck and silage which bizarrely decided we rather like.
We struggled to find anywhere to stay again but got into a modern hotel by the river which is very good.
Our current problem is getting accommodation as everywhere is now getting so booked up from the part time pilgrims who have just joined the walk. Just like with the towels on sunbeds it's the Germans who seem to be monopolising the hotels so we are adopting a pincer movement and going off the plan. So we have just managed to book the next 4 nights by staying away from the guide book recommended stops which should get us to Santiago unscathed.
It's a shame we have had to book ahead as it spoils the random nature of the camino so far which had allowed everyone to stop where they chose to and picked up a room wherever you wanted. It means we have some big walks ahead but so be it.

Gabrielle Hello both. I think you must have got used to "big walks" by now and will take the next four days in your stride (!). Am sure it will be comforting to know that you will have accomodation to stay in after your long days walking. Enjoy every minute now the end is in sight. Xx
gabrielle Ps. How do you manage to look so bloody glamorous all the time Sal? Xx
laurieandsally Many thx for your continuing encouragement which is much appreciated as our bodies are falling apart. Also surrounded by lots of new pilgrims which is a bit of a pain. But not long til Saturdays finish. S and L x
