Little Kirsty Ventures to Pastures New
It's judgement weekend. The Mountain climb is looming- ahh! Been running every morning this week and I can't believe how much energy its zapped from me. Yesterday I was so so tired, so ended up watching another dvd with 3A. But that was kinda OK cause only 6 of them turned up anyway, due to a hand ball competition or something. This morning I thought it would be best not to run- and conserve all the energy I can for tomorrow! Aman and I are heading for the mountain base this afternoon and staying in a hostel in Kinabalu National Park, before hitting the trail early tomorrow morning. Got my balaclava, knitted scarve, warm jumpers and hiking boots all ready! Really looking forward to it, but slightly apprehensive as well. I'm mostly worried about the altitude sickness and the fact that it will most probably start raining around 2pm so it'll be a race to beat the weather as we head for the rest house half way up the mountain. The climb should take 5-6 hours from the base of the mountain to the resthouse half way up. We will stay the night there, and get up around 2am to make it to the summit for the sunrise at 5.45am. After we get some snaps and enjoy the view (fingers crossed there will be one!) we will head straight for the bottom of the mountain with no night stop. We've heard thats its "absolutely freezing" at the peak, but that's by local's standards and I think it's actually about 8 dec celcius. Which is still pretty chilly when we're used to average of 43!
Anyway, I'm off to watch my 1A class perform a dance I taught them in class yesterday. They're doing it for a Teacher's Day Competition, so should be quite good.
