We sailed from Byxelkrok to Nabberland as it looked an interesting place only 7 nm away. We arrived to the jetty, there was even electricity all for free. It was some sort of harbour or ferry port years ago but now deserted except for a few yachts and local fishermen. We had a fantastic sunset and very peaceful night.

We caught up with Des and Anne on Genevra who were coming here so we decided to join them, again so few yachts in. The sail up was mostly under engine with a couple of hours sailing at the end. The next morning we got the bikes out and had a 20 k cycle ride to the top of the island and back. We were planning on a sail to Gotland but with no wind we will just go round the corner and then make the crossing on Sunday.

The weather is still undecided so we just ventured a short distance along the coast and over to the holiday island of Öland just 8 nm. We are the only visiting yacht in the harbour but again there are 8 motor homes. We had a fair wind but very overcast but now the evening has come the wind has died and the sun is out so looking forward to another Öland sunset.

Our plan today was a easy sail up the Kalmarsund to Mörbylånga on Örland to spend a couple of day due to a storm coming through but at the entrance to the Marina we were able to see yachts inside and very little protection from the elements with a gale 8/9 forecast overnight we pushed on to Kalmar a big safe harbour. Back in Sandhamn after a 13 hour 81 nm sail from Bornholm, the weather was good with a nice F5/6 blowing from the west as the day went on it went south so we were being rolled about a bit in the big following seas. Just 2 yachts on the wall but 30 motor homes parked all over the hard standing, 2 years ago I doubt if there were 5 vans and more yachts. Are people going for the easy option?
