Our last Destination in Poland this year, more of a pit stop. Łeba is 55 miles fro Hel so we go an early start and arrived mid afternoon after motoring in lovely sunshine. We walked into the town, found it very touristy. We came across this girl playing the violin very well before finding something to eat and then getting an early night we still had 85 miles to do the next day.

We sailed over to Hel in a F6 to be at the last place in the bay of Gdańsk we will stay for 2/3 days as the storm seas are now setting down. The Hel peninsular is a 20 mile strip of land and quite touristy. Day 2 in Hel we took the bikes on the train about halfway along the peninsula then cycling back on a lovely flat cycle route. We have come down the coast just 10 miles to the modern port of Gdynia, we are experiencing the worst rain we have had since being in the Baltic 2 days non stop. Hopefully moving on to Hel tomorrow after visiting the Polish warship museum

We left early and had a good sail to Gdańsk in the rising wind 20 + knots as the storm approached, we would later realise that we had done well to get in before the wind, as it lasted over a week. Gdańsk is a great place to be stuck, when we think of some other places we could have been in. The feature photo is of Brenda dipping the ensign to the war memorial. Wow our longest ever daily trip 111 nm 19 hours. As can be seen from the photo, no wind and in the mid 30 s, we stopped the engine and just drifted mid afternoon and enjoyed a dip in the sea to cool off. We left just after sunrise and arrived after dark. We didn’t go ashore just slept then left again early in the morning as the storm was now getting closer.
