After a noisy windy night we rose at 06.00 to get an early start as Hanö is a very small harbour, that would fill up quickly, we woke to cloud and rain, in spite of the weather we had a good fast crossing to Hanö. We had an interesting walk to the top of the island to the brightest lighthouse in the Baltic, from there we walked down to the British cemetery where the last remains of a number of British sailors from H M S Victory lay who died here in the winter of 1810. Every time a British warship passes this way they stop and a service is always held in the cemetery. In 1956 the island had five deer there are now about 200 we saw a number of them as we walked about. The island does not have any cars and only has about 10 full time residents. Tonight there are 50 visiting yachts, the harbour is very full in places 4 deep.
