We called at Häylekis just to get food for a few days in the islands of the lake. Lake Vänern is the largest lake in Europe. There was not much to say about the town except it had a supermarket, there was an honesty box to pay for the harbour but even that was shut with a padlock and no slot for money, nobody came round so we had a night for free. The sail across to the nature harbour at Källbergsön was perfect with 14 knots of wind and sunshine. We passed an island with the wreck of a pleasure boat on it. The anchorage was lovely, we inflated the dinghy for the first time this year and explored the islands, visiting the wrecked boat. During our second afternoon we were watching a small yacht approaching the bay from an unusual direction due to there being a lot of rocks this was not a safe area to be in, then there was a loud crunching sound and a woman screaming. They had run aground at a good speed, there yacht was high and not quite dry but very stuck. I went out in the dinghy to see if I could help. They were an elderly Swedish couple, they yacht was in very poor condition with no electronics but they did have a chart and should have seen the rocks clearly marked on it. Another six guys turned out in there dinghies. It took us all about an hour to pull them off the reef by heeling there yacht over and pulling. He anchored next to us and was still floating in the morning so no major damaged but will need looking at soon.
