Our plan today was a easy sail up the Kalmarsund to Mörbylånga on Örland to spend a couple of day due to a storm coming through but at the entrance to the Marina we were able to see yachts inside and very little protection from the elements with a gale 8/9 forecast overnight we pushed on to Kalmar a big safe harbour. We decided to push on hard and arrive in Kalmar the day before our friends arrived, this meant 10 hours on engine as the wind still headed us. The weather continues to be lovely just with strong winds always from the direction we want to go. Trevor and Lesley arrived at lunch time and we enjoyed the sunshine walking round the town and castle. Leaving tomorrow still heading both up the Öland sound.

Today's sail was our best in terms of direction and speed we arrived in Kalmar at 13.00 having averaged 6.8 knots speed over the 41 NM distance. We left with two other yachts but as the wind increased to 20 knots we left them out of sight over the horizon and were tied up in harbour long before they arrived.
